The “Costa Rica Ambassadors Program” is an initiative put forth by the Costa Rican Tourism Board and the Costa Rica Convention Bureau. The project consists of a set of activities, tools, and services allocated to local leaders who actively participate in national, regional, and international meetings that could be held in the country. Its main objective is for these leaders to see firsthand the destinations’ support, so that they decide to lead a process of increasing the number of meetings from the amount that normally take place.
“Ambassadors” in the context of general tourism – and particularly meetings tourism – are defined as anyone who is highly knowledgeable, prestigious, and influential in their field. These people can act as representatives and supporters of Costa Rica as a destination.
The ambassadors program has been developed for the following sectors: associative, governmental, corporate, sports, and SMERF. The program is aimed at all local leaders who have the possibility to head the lead-capturing process to get meetings in the following market segments: associations, corporations, government representatives, military organizations, universities, and other centers of learning.
